Easter is on April 9th this year, and what a lovely holiday to begin the card swaps.
What you need to send me (via PM) is:
Inmates name and ID number
Their mailing address
A message from you (keep them reasonably brief please) for the sender to include with their greeting
Any restrictions, ie Tx inmates can’t receive cards, but you can always send a brief note to them on decorated paper perhaps…this is a chance to be creative and to think outside the box.
Deadline for signing up for this swap will be 19th March and will be a 1:1 ratio - you will send 1 card out and your LO (Loved One) will receive 1 card in return.
Cards would need to be mailed out by 26th March for Overseas people and 2nd April for within USA.
Any questions, just ask.
Hugs,
Nomes aka The Aussie Card Fairy
Hi Nomes! I will certainly participate (And send you a PM) and will also try to recruit a few more folks. What a lovely idea. Thank you.
Update: I promoted it to a couple of places and hopefully we get a good turnout!
Thanks Richard, I used to have so much fun sending out cards…I loved knowing that sending such a simple thing as a card, could mean so much to someone that didn’t get much mail, if any.
That’s great that you are keen to join in…I think mail/cards are a great way to let those the other side of the fence know that someone out here cares about them, and is thinking of them.
If you know of anyone else that you think would be interested in participating, then please let them know how to find us…the more the merrier I say!
Days are flying by, and the deadlines to get cards in the mail is rapidly approaching. Do you know anyone who would benefit from receiving a card from a stranger? (No expectations of return mail intended) Please submit their name and address to me, along with any requirements by their facility, no cards for instance…in which case, a short note can be sent instead. If you also know someone in the free world who writes to inmates, let them know about the card swap, and of course Justice Talk, so that we can continue to grow and support each other. Thanks.
